Kimora Lee Simmons (ne Perkins; created May 4, 1975) is a former American fashion model. Only after her fourteenth birthday, Simmons was given an exclusive modeling contract with Chanel and went to work below the tutelage of Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld. She immediately got interest in the style world when she shut Lagerfeld’s haute couture show in 1989. It had been her aim to move fashion label Baby Phat, established in 1999, into an “aspirational lifestyle brand”. Her high end sportswear line, KLS, started in Autumn 2007. On September 1, 2010, Simmons parted ways with Baby Phat and its own management firm, Kellwood. The details regarding why Simmons was removed as Creative Director have not been quite clear; some site websites are asserting that it was because Simmons was spending too much cash on business quests and giving way too much pay to herself and her kids. Because the schism, Simmons intends to start her KLS selection and Kouture by Kimora Brands. She also comes with an exclusive brand coming to Macy’s that offer fashionable clothing for under $40. On September 14, 2011, Simmons declared on her site that she’s the newest Creative Director and President of JustFab, a personalized shopping site. Simmons has appeared in small parts in television and movies including Beauty Shop, Brown Sugar, and Waist Deep. She’s also appeared in music videos for Ginuwine, Usher and Rich Gang in the 2013 tune “Tapout”. In 2003, Simmons appeared as among the judges on America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 1. She was scheduled to return but after chose not to. She’s been a cohost of Sony Television’s syndicated talk show Life & Style. The show chronicles her lifestyle and routine as a mom and then-CEO of Phat Fashions.
